We’re going to return to our friend Rogue1. Sometimes graffiti is commissioned by organizations and other times by individuals.
In the following case a lady asked rogue 1 to do a mural for her husband, on the side of the building where they lived. She got permission from The owner.

Her husband is a cabbie here in Glasgow. The face of the driver is Rogue1! He always wears that distinctive cap and is seen around town. Our guide has seen him on several occasions.
The next one is a Scottish National Treasure. A comedian most of us know, but as a much older man.
Billy Connelly as a young man. This is a copy of a portrait of Billy. Also done freehand. The site is near John O Groats on the northern edge of mainland Scotland.
I continue to marvel at the artistic ability to”blow up “ a painting and then copy it to fit the side of a building .

The next two styles are called Bubble and paste up
Bubble you are very familiar with.

In the upper photo on the right is bubble
These were taken one one of several walls near the river Clyde that the council has decided to to “look the other way “so the artists can practice and work. You see all different styles on these walls.
The guide pointed out several reasons for this space.
One of which is safety. Much graffiti is done under the cover of darkness which for female artists can be much more dangerous. One reason being the time it takes to create some of this work.
Coming back to paste ups. This can be a preferred method for female artists because most of the creation is done at home or studio etc. All the artist had to do is find their spot, moisten the surface, roll out the work, remoisten and squeegee their creation smooth and be gone.
One of my favorites at The Attro Hotel .

Until next time a few more that get better still
