Didn’t need the swim fins, Was on the road at 7:30, not sure where I was going to sleep tonight, but decided to trust.
5 miles in the audio navigation isn’t working so I using the. Printed map.
It directs me to net off at exit 768 for the Newton Drury Parkway. I have no idea what this parkway is. It I’m not seeing much of nothing. Two roads going in opposite directions east and. west.
I want to be going south. Well maybe they bend and turn and eventually go south.
30 minutes later I decide there is something wrong with the map and I get back on 101 heading south. A half hour into the climb I find Newton Drury Parkway at exit 765.
Electronic navigation isn’t talking to me and won’t. for the rest of the day..
I have about another 20 minutes of climbing through Prairie Creek Redwoods and then start a delicious down hill.
Worth every minute of climbing.Just WOW!
I got to Trinidad, but there was no lodging.
I decided to toodle along to Arcata.
The approach was through flat quiet farm lands.
The Google maps( different navigation app) said you’ll arrive in a quarter mile, all I can see are fields in every direction,
I come around a bend a VOILA! There is my hotel.
Today is the last day of riding due to time and logistics, so I’ll be back to continue to San Francisco.
A word of thanks to Kathy Napoli a nutritionist I have worked with on and off over the last several years
She developed an eating plan for the trip. It consisted of how many carbs to eat and drink and how often ,so I could stay fueled and hydrated during these hours of riding
We factored in the exertion to be expended.
I set a timer for every half hour and I abided.
It worked so well.
I never had a cramp, muscle spasm, and was not exhausted at the end of each day.
Kathy is retired. I asked for and she gave me a recommendation for a nutritionist .
She gave me the name of Parker Nelson 925 324-1785.
When the need arises I’ll be calling him
Best wishes to all of you
Paul
